Special edition #2: a selection of Syrah, Cinsault and Chenin

Syrah, also known as Shiraz, originated in the Rhône Valley of France. In Australia, it is commonly called Shiraz. DNA profiling confirms its French origin along the Rhône.

Syrah is a rich, powerful, and sometimes meaty red wine. Primary flavors include blueberry, black plum, milk chocolate, tobacco, and green peppercorn. It has a dry taste, full body, medium-high tannins, and moderate acidity.

Chenin Blanc is a white wine grape variety from the Loire Valley of France. Its high acidity means it can be used to make varieties from sparkling wines to well-balanced dessert wines. Chenin Blanc has flavors of pear, apple, and herbs. Chenin Blanc was the most widely planted white grape in California before chardonnay took its place in the 1970s.

This mixed case focuses on Syrah, Cinsault and Chenin Blanc. The collection will go well with a rich, creamy seafood starter, fish and chips or a main course of Moroccan Lamb or an Asian Curry (just make sure it bites).

This wine collection includes the following:

  1. Constantiavale Syrah 2019
  2. Groote Post Salt of the Earth 2019 (Syrah Cinsault blend)
