The Selection

  • Jan White Blend

Varietal

49% Chenin Blanc, 17% Viognier, 14% Semillon, 13% Chardonnay, 7% Roussanne

Vineyard Location & Terroir

The vineyards behind JAN mostly take root in the storybook slopes of our Zevenwacht estate, nestled in the Polkadraai Hills of Stellenbosch. Here, vines thrive in ancient, crumbled granite soils, laced with pockets of clay that lend structure and charm. The slopes lean lazily to the south and southwest, basking in dappled light at altitudes between 200 and 350 metres. A touch of Chenin Blanc wanders in from our Banghoek property, where alluvial soils whisper a different tale. The grapes were picked at their peak—between 22 and 23.5° Brix—each parcel chosen with care according to its varietal and terroir.

Nose

Imagine a bouquet of wildflowers with a hint of honey and a dash of mischief.

Palate

Light, airy, and full of life. Notes of citrus, green apple, and a playful hint of pear.

Ageing Potential

Best enjoyed young, like a bear cub discovering the world for the first time.

Food Pairing

Perfect with a picnic spread. Think cheese, crackers, and a side of whimsy.

  • Jordan Dry Rose 2024

Varietal

70% Merlot, 30% Shiraz

Vineyard Location & Terroir

This Wine of Origin Stellenbosch is born from vines rooted in a tapestry of decomposed granite and loam — soils rich with history and quiet strength. Planted on cool south- and east-facing slopes, the vineyards bask at 220 metres above sea level, where gentle morning light and ocean-kissed breezes create an ideal growing haven. Now in their elegant prime at 20 to 22 years of age, the vines offer fruit with character, complexity, and just the right touch of wisdom.

Nose

Fresh strawberries with a hint of rose petals and a whisper of summer breeze.

Palate

Crisp and clean with notes of red berries, watermelon, and a cheeky hint of spice.

Ageing Potential

Will age gracefully, like a bear growing wiser with each passing year.

Food Pairing

Ideal with light salads, grilled fish, or simply enjoyed on its own while watching the sunset.

  • Saltare Old Vine Chenin Blanc 2021

Varietal

100% Chenin Blanc from Old vines

Vineyard Location & Terroir

Inspired by the charm of the Val de Loire, this wine springs from gnarled old bushvines that resemble miniature trees—steadfast and story-filled after more than fifty years on a dryland, west-facing slope of the Paardeberg in the Swartland. Their age and resilience yield grapes of deep concentration, while the mineral-rich soils lend a bright, refreshing lift. With low yields and high character, the result is a wine that dances gracefully between richness and elegance.

Nose

Aromas of ripe peaches, apricots, and a hint of vanilla. It’s like dessert in a glass.

Palate

Full-bodied with notes of tropical fruits, honeycomb, and a touch of oak.

Ageing Potential

Will age beautifully, like a bear growing more majestic with time.

Food Pairing

Perfect with roasted chicken, creamy pastas, or simply savored on its own.
