July 26 White Edition

Paisley Bear Wine Club July 2026 White Edition (6 bottles)

Six exceptional South African whites. One beautifully balanced collection for every kind of Cape winter.

If July has reminded us of anything, it’s that Cape Town weather is wonderfully unreliable.

One day you’re enjoying lunch on the patio in shirtsleeves. The next you’re reaching for another log, another blanket, and fortunately, another bottle of wine.

The Paisley Bear Wine Club July 2026 White Edition has been curated with exactly this unpredictability in mind.

This month’s collection celebrates balance in its purest form: two Chardonnays, two Sauvignon Blancs and two Chenin Blancs. Six wines that each express their varietal beautifully while showcasing the diversity and quality of modern South African winemaking.

From crisp coastal freshness to textured old-vine richness, these are wines equally at home beside fresh seafood on a surprisingly warm winter afternoon or comforting roast chicken when another Atlantic cold front rolls through.

Whether you’re discovering a new favourite or revisiting a producer you’ve admired for years, this collection promises six excellent reasons to postpone washing the dishes.

1. Thorne & Daughters Copper Pot Chardonnay

Nose: White peach, lemon curd, toasted hazelnut and delicate citrus blossom with subtle flinty minerality.

Palate: Elegant and beautifully restrained with vibrant stone fruit, fine acidity and gentle oak adding texture without overpowering the fruit. Sophisticated from first sip to last.

Food Pairing: Roast chicken, grilled kingklip, creamy mushroom risotto or baked camembert with crusty bread.

Winter Moment: The fire is glowing, dinner is almost ready, and somebody has wandered into the kitchen “just to help” but has somehow ended up holding a full wine glass instead.

2. Craven Wines Chardonnay

Nose: Fresh nectarine, green apple, citrus peel and subtle floral notes with hints of wet stone.

Palate: Bright, mineral-driven and wonderfully energetic. A pure expression of Chardonnay with lively acidity, restrained fruit and remarkable precision.

Food Pairing: Grilled linefish, roast pork, seafood pasta or buttery crayfish.

Winter Moment: One of those unexpectedly sunny July afternoons where everyone insists on eating outside despite the temperature dropping the minute the sun disappears.

3. Groot Constantia Sauvignon Blanc

Nose: Gooseberry, lime zest, green fig and freshly cut herbs with a distinctive mineral freshness.

Palate: Crisp and refreshing with layers of citrus, tropical fruit and vibrant acidity carried through a long, clean finish.

Food Pairing: Fresh oysters, sushi, grilled calamari or a generous seafood platter.

Winter Moment: A bottle that somehow makes everyone forget it’s only two degrees outside because the conversation has become considerably warmer.

4. Groote Post Estate Sauvignon Blanc

Nose: Passion fruit, grapefruit, gooseberry and subtle hints of blackcurrant leaf.

Palate: Juicy and expressive with bright tropical fruit balanced by lively acidity and a beautifully refreshing finish.

Food Pairing: Goat’s cheese salad, grilled prawns, lemon herb chicken or fresh summer rolls.

Winter Moment: Cape Town has delivered another “fake spring” day, the braai has unexpectedly been lit, and nobody is complaining.

5. Cederberg Chenin Blanc

Nose: Yellow apple, ripe pear, honeycomb and white peach with gentle floral perfume.

Palate: Richly textured yet beautifully fresh, combining generous stone fruit flavours with bright acidity and a lingering mineral finish.

Food Pairing: Roast pork belly, creamy chicken pie, butternut ravioli or mature cheeses.

Winter Moment: The sort of bottle that disappears halfway through Sunday lunch while everyone is still debating whether there’s room for dessert.

6. Stettyn Family Vineyards Shackleton Old Vine Chenin Blanc

Nose: Apricot, baked apple, citrus marmalade and hints of honey with subtle spice.

Palate: Layered and wonderfully textured with concentrated orchard fruit, refreshing acidity and remarkable length. Old vines doing what old vines do best.

Food Pairing: Roast turkey, grilled salmon, slow-roasted vegetables or rich pasta dishes.

Winter Moment: The meal has finished, coffee has been suggested, but someone wisely decides another glass of Chenin Blanc is a far better idea.

Final Sip

Our Paisley Bear Wine Club July 2026 White Edition celebrates everything we love about South African white wine.

Six carefully selected bottles. Three iconic varietals. Endless opportunities to discover something new.

Whether July delivers sunshine, storms, rugby victories or weather forecasts that bear little resemblance to reality, this collection has a bottle perfectly suited to the occasion.

Because good white wine isn’t only for summer.

In South Africa, it’s simply for whenever good food, good company and good conversation come together.
